The National Convention continues its lackadaisical advance through convention business. Both convention sessions started at well after the announced hour. In the morning, there was about an hour of convention business. A two hour lunch was followed by an extended keynote speech. There was modestly more business accomplished in the afternoon, but the total time devoted to convention business was quite limited.
Significant progress was made through the two dozen Bylaws committee proposals. There was great concern about Michael Heise’s plans, seen on social media sites elsewhere, to take over the LP in favor of some right-wing group. Toward the end, invocations of Roberts Rules of Order became more vigorous than yesterday.
A remarkable number of people were nominated for the Judicial committee. They each gave a two-minute speech. By a large amount, Avens O’Brien got the most applause. There was then a period in which ballots were cast, state chairs accumulated vote totals, and delivered the ballots and the count for their state to the tellers.
