Jake Porter Reports — The Next Takeover

Jake Porter <jakeporter@substack.com> — writes

Heise Launches Takeover 2.0. Threatens to rename the Libertarian Party. Current LNC Reps supporting his effort. Takeover will have party endorse Democrats and Republicans.

While most of us spent the spring and summer working on campaigns, Michael Heise, founder of the Mises Caucus, was plotting a second takeover of the Libertarian Party. His plan to create the “American Liberty Party” wouldn’t just capture the Libertarian Party, but destroy it, replacing it with a bizarre mixture of America First populist mush that, by his own admission, “wont be explicitly libertarian.”
What is the American Liberty Party?
“Thats why its a rebrand. It will no longer be the libertarian party. I think libertarians will stand to gain a lot more from it, but wont be explicitly libertarian.” Michael Heise
On October 27, Heise announced the American Liberty Party. If you visit the website and scroll to the bottom you will realize that it is a project of the Mises Caucus, paid for by Mises PAC and not actually a new political party. The site lists three principles: America First, Freedom, and Justice. There is No platform. No statement of principles. There is however a donation link that routes to the caucus’s PAC, and an email funnel the Mises PAC has disguised as a form to recruit Congressman Thomas Massie to run for President.
One thing is for certain and that is the American Liberty Party is not really a new party, and Heise has never pretended otherwise to his own caucus. He explained the whole thing back in May, before the “party” was officially launched.

@clockworkOMNI Thats why its a rebrand. It will no longer be the libertarian party. I think libertarians will stand to gain a lot more from it, but wont be explicitly libertarian.
The product being sold is not libertarian philosophy. It is the Libertarian Party’s ballot access with the libertarianism removed. When his own caucus members asked him, on launch day whether the caucus was walking away from the LP, Heise responded “that is was “A new takeover + Branding.”
And what replaces the libertarianism? Heise, said earlier in the same exchange:
“Its not a libertarian party, or a christian nationalist party, or a populist left party etc. It will be a coalition around a shared principle core of America First, Freedom and Justice with flexibility for candidates outside of that core.” Michael Heise
Please note that exchanges show that Alfa Shaw, a Representative on the Libertarian National Committee (LNC) asks how he and another LNC Representative, Austin Martin, can help Heise prepare the way for this outside hostile takeover.
A coalition with “flexibility for candidates outside of that core” is a coalition with no core. It is a party for rent that stands for nothing. It is the Reform Party which stood for nothing and quickly died after Ross Perot’s 1996 Presidential run.
The mechanism is just as explicit. In May, Heise laid out the strategy in two parts. Plan A is for Thomas Massie to run for president as a Republican. Plan B is to delay the Libertarian Presidential nomination.
“Plan B should be for Massie supporters to take over the Libertarian Party, completely rebrand it into a home for the America 1st Movement, and punt its presidential nomination to like 2 weeks before the RNC… [to] retain ballot access and derail the GOP.” Michael Heise

Getting on the ballot is a significantly more uphill battle than people realize. When done as 1 independant candidate, in the event that he doesnt win, an independent run leaves nothing in its wake to build from in terms of infrastructure. Thats why imo Plan A should be to run…
Every piece of that matters. Take over the party. Rebrand it. Hold its presidential nomination hostage until two weeks before the Republican convention, so it can be spent as leverage in the Republican Party.
Additionally, the takeover does not require persuading the party’s existing members, a fact Heise stated plainly in the same Discord session: the LP has “like 8500 members,” and “1 tucker episode pushing the sign up link could by itself be game over.” The plan is to flood the membership rolls with people who have never been libertarians, in the weeks and months before the national convention.
On November 3rd, the American Liberty Party got its public salesman. Bret Weinstein told his DarkHorse Podcast audience: “The idea is a friendly takeover of the Libertarian Party. I’m partnering with the Mises Caucus… the idea is to take over the Libertarian Party and to rebrand it the American Liberty Party.”

Huge news I’m excited to see go public: @BretWeinstein announces he is partnering with a broad coalition for a friendly takeover of the Libertarian Party to rebrand it as @ALPNational and @DraftMassie for President:

Bret Weinstein announces he is partnering with the Libertarian Party Mises Caucus for a friendly takeover of the party to rebrand it as @ALPNational: “The new home for the America First movement.” @BretWeinstein calls on supporters of the strategy to sign up, because there are
Friendly. Takeover. Both are his words.
They are not building a libertarian party. They are building a ballot-access shell for the America First movement and MAHA. They need our affiliates, and our fifty years of ballot-access work to build it. The only part of the Libertarian Party they want is the part that cannot be rebuilt quickly once it is spent.
Weinstein is not a libertarian. He is a self-described progressive. He is a Bernie Sanders supporter whose major political project, Unity 2020, was to draft a left-wing and a right-wing candidate to co-govern the country. They were to flip a coin to decide who would be the top of the ticket.
Additionally, Weinstein worked with disgraced former Libertarian Party Chair, Angela McArdle to hold a Donald Trump rally ahead of the 2024 election. Now, he is working to harm the Libertarian Party again.
According to the American Liberty Party’s own website, they plan to use our party’s ballot access to endorse Democrats and Republicans.
“The ALP does not need to be rigidly partisan.
Through radical bylaw changes after taking over the Libertarian Party, it can endorse Republicans or Democrats when tactically advantageous, or run its own candidates when advantageous.”
The Reform Party died because it stood for nothing. Heise is proposing something worse. He wants to hijack a party that stands for something and turn it into a party that stands for something else and something that is not libertarian. He and Weinstein want to spend our ballot lines to elect Republicans and Democrats who don’t believe in our values. He said the quiet part when he said it “wont be explicitly libertarian.”
If the Libertarian Party delegates in El Paso let that happen, the Libertarian Party dies.
