A recap on developments to date, a plea for funding, and a novel suggestion…
Dear Friends,
If you care about the Libertarian Party, it has been a fraught two years since our fateful convention in 2022. In 2022, the Mises Caucus took complete control over the Libertarian National Committee. They have used their power to completely dismantle the party’s capability to fulfill its mission. They acted in an attempt to bolster Donald Trump.¹
After being sued for breach of her duties to the Libertarian National Committee, Inc., a District of Columbia non-profit corporation, Angela McArdle chose to invite the Republican candidate for President to enjoy a primetime speaking slot at the Libertarian National Convention.²
We are clearly heading into a national convention where the Mises Caucus has collapsed, leaving a track record of failure: to raise money, to recruit candidates, to retain or prospect for members, to present a positive image of Libertarians to the public.
An utter failure is not something that people will show up for. Mises Caucus delegates around the country, like California Mises Caucus Chair, Adrian Malagon, are choosing not to attend convention for fear of ridicule.
The only hope of Caryn Ann Harlos and her pack of Mises Caucus cubs is to depress attendance by actual Libertarians and to boost attendance by the alt-right and MAGA Republicans.³ That’s why Adrian Malagon moved to put himself and Caryn Ann Harlos on the Credentials Committee to stack the deck in the favor of the Mises Caucus by excluding Libertarian delegates who won’t vote their way. This violates the bylaws.⁴
Region 7 LNC Representative, Best Vest of Louisiana filed a derivative suit to remove Angela McArdle for breach of her duties to the members of the Libertarian Party.
Angela McArdle has breached her fiduciary duties to the Libertarian National Committee, Inc.
We need to raise approximately $9,000 to pay the invoice for filing this lawsuit to defend your rights as a member of the Libertarian Party. The Mises Caucus dominated LNC has overseen a nearly $1,000,000 destruction of annual revenue for the Libertarian Party.
You can make a contribution directly to the Veritas Law Firm’s payment portal, marking the Reference field with “LNC Derivative Suit.” If you would like to discuss other support options, please reply to this email.
Your $20, $200, or $2,000 contribution to the cause would be much appreciated by those who stood up for what is right.
Speaking of “what is right,” Tom Wolfe’s “A Man in Full” was the book that introduced me to Stoicism. Netflix has made it into a brilliant six-episode limited series that enhances this window into the human experience. There is no better illustration of the futility of revenge for revenge’s sake.
Based on the number of interview requests I’ve had in the last week, there’s going to be even more earned media coverage of the Libertarian Party over the next two weeks. I hope to see many of you in D.C. next week.
Yours truly,
Nick
1. Was: An editor would have made me break that sentence up. Is actually: I broke it up for you.
2. This violates the Libertarian Party bylaws and the Policy Manual adopted by the Libertarian National Commitee.
3. But we repeat ourselves.
4. Art. 11, Sec 4(a): The Credentials Committee, composed of 10 members, shall be selected as follows. a. Five members chosen by the National Committee no later than six months before a regular convention.

April Membership Report sustaining members: 12,211.
The last time membership was this low at the end of April in a Presidential year: 1992.
At least the trend in 1992 was upward – it had climbed from around 7,000 immediately after the Paul campaign in 1988.
