On June 15 there was a new LPUS Membership report covering May. LPUS Sustaining Membership in May stayed very nearly constant. The count of sustaining members dropped from 12,211 to 12,204. At the start of the year (last day of December) there were 12,344 sustaining members.

General observations. Clark (1980) campaign energized membership levels. 1984 campaign did little to carry the momentum. After Ron Paul (1988) membership soared about 60 percent in next two years. Continuing good leadership had membership up to all time highs in the 90’s (In the 30,000s if I recall). Now, thirty five years after Ron Paul, membership is back about where it was in 1991. Probably 100,000+ folks have paid dues over the years. Big challenge for leadership: How to use the 2024 campaign to get some of them back plus new blood too to start growing again? If membership stagnates, LP may survive but one begins to ask “For what purpose?”
Based on my records membership hasn’t been this low since December 2015 when BSM was 11,693.
