Motions and Discussion in Preparation for the LNC May In-Person Meeting

May In-Person Meeting

There is a standing agenda. Then there are new motions:

Motion from Harlos: That the LNC adopt a give or get program for this term in which each LNC member and alternate commits to bringing in at least $50 month minimum.

Malagon: This is rich coming from the woman that cost us $20K for a lawsuit.

Motion from Malagon: That no LNC member be able to monetize a podcast or have podcasts surrounding self-serving podcasts surrounding RONR or have self-serving podcasts about RONR or a “cult” thereof. Especially with JC members.

Harlos: And I’ll raise a point of order that the LNC cannot impose membership requirements beyond Bylaws. Thank you.

Yeniscavich: I give notice for the following items:
Update on Audit Committee. 5 minutes.
Update on KVF. 10 minutes.

Malagon: I stand by my noticed item. Apologies if it offends certain people.

Motion from Malagon: I’d also like to notice a motion that the Secretary only speak when addressed [by] the Chair or a member of [the] Board. Cosplay is fun and all, but I don’t see the need for the Sec to pretend to be the Chair during a meeting and monopolize 90% of the speaking time.

Motion from Malagon: I’d also like to notice a motion that all emails sent by the Sec be approved by the Chair prior to them being sent. This would prevent unnecessary spam.

Harlos: I would ask the Chair to rule on the points of order. I would also raise points of order that Mr. Malagon is grossly breaking decorum both now and during the meeting. Speaking to agenda items is not “monopolizing time” and I am permitted to address Points of Order. His conduct is out of control, and this needs to stop.

Malagon: Yes, we all know that you think you’re allowed to do whatever you want. We’re all shocked that you’re offended by reality, I’m sure.

Malagon: My noticed motions stand, whether you like them or not.

Darr: This is a notice thread for items at the May meeting. The Chair is traveling now. I ask all of you to come to order and only reply with items that are being noticed. If you are unsure if a message is appropriate for notice you may email me directly for clarification. The Chair will have time later to determine any other action on specific points of order.

Harlos: Applications will be going out soon for Ballot Access and Bylaws so I am giving notice of agenda item for filling those committees. The applications for Platform, Awards, and Credentials will go out later in the year.

    Message to LNC:

Do you want to create an LNC and LP dedicated to advancing freedom and spreading Libertarian values that you can be proud of? Then start acting like it. You have a Chair who knows how to run a business. Dispel the LP reputation of amnesia about our free market foundation.

Political influence starts with building productivity, respect, and credibility. Productivity in this context means completing projects that advance freedom and spread our values. Restructure the LNC and LP as a multitiered clearinghouse for freedom projects.

Let successful freedom projects speak for themselves. Freedom projects easily avoid the pitfalls of battles over ideological nuances. Freedom projects should be entirely self-funded with their own fundraising provisions as needed, an important consideration in light of limited political auxiliary budgets.

Freedom projects can come from any source, LNC, LP, anywhere. Vet the projects for productivity, leadership-by-example recruiting potential, goals consistent with our goal of advancing freedom, and opportunities for spreading Libertarian values by passive example or active articulation. Create a project clearinghouse environment focused on connecting project ideas with leadership, financial, and material resources. Within tighter vetting constraints, political campaigns could be legitimate projects within the purview of our multi-tiered freedom project clearing house.

Remember that you are a political auxiliary, a tiny fraction of the Liberty movement that extends to non-party Libertarians, and Libertarian leaners of all stripes. Connect with, listen to, and respond to the millions who share Libertarian and Liberty Movement values. Be an organizational leader by example that both you and the movement can be proud of.

You want to get the LNC and LP back on track? Then take the bull by the horns, recreate yourself as a credible leader-by-example organization whose business is advancing freedom and spreading Libertarian values through freedom projects that make people’s lives freer and raise their standard of living.

    Thoughts?

Malagoon is an ass and a liability. I will not believe any of the new leadership promises until he stops getting special treatment with the absolute worst conduct. He is nothing but a bully.

Three of the primary reasons I stopped supporting Mises Caucus despite sympathies with paleo messaging as a big tent strategy and the principal focus on winning local elections (which I still believe is correct):

      1. Bully behavior which went completely unchecked, with the top examples being LP New Hampshire, Jeremy Kauffman, and Malagon
      2. Harlos’ Michigan lawsuit which was both poor form and a waste of money
      3. Most of all, McArdle’s gaslighting, arrogance, and abuses (including her facilitation of #1 and #2, among many other things)

But McArdle and Heise are now gone and will be quickly forgotten in history’ dustbin. The Michigan lawsuit is over. What’s left is now Nekhaila’s problem. Cleaning it up is not a task I envy, but one that must be done. Nobody wants to hear about the failures of prior leadership; that one trick pony failed McArdle in the end. It’s about what’s happening now.

The holdover drama from the prior regime needs to be eliminated. Either the LNC members responsible can fall in line with decorum and learn to disagree and debate amicably like a real board, or removal proceedings need to be initiated. The mid-term cycle starts in about 8 months, and the time to prepare is now. If this isn’t solved it will stick around like out of control cancer.
