Live Blog, March 1, 2026 LNC Meeting

The meeting has come to order. There was a motion to adopt.

Chadderdon requests that the Treasurer be asked to report, and that the Dallas minutes be approved.  The Secretary objects, because under the rules the minutes are to be presented at the next regular meeting, which is in Dallas in some months.

Chair rules that a 2/3 vote is required to add an officer’s report from the Treasurer. Chadderdon appeals the ruling of the chair.

Move to adopt agenda: Passes 15-0-0

They advance to executive session on convention and legal report.

Non-LNC-members are discussing issues.  The two parliamentarians Brown and Jacobs oppose the Chair’s proposed motions to restrict access of some LNC members to information. They emerge from Executive Session.  Chadderdon claims that a motion to leave the executive session was used to keep him from questioning the party’s attorney about something.

There is a motion to reconsider the chair’s parliamentary decision.  Chadderdon goes on about what he views as incorrect Chair decisions. Paul Darr notes history in the rules as to whether or purchases count as donations. Martin interrupts.  The Chair orders the Secretary to mute Martin. Martin objects that a vote Is needed.  There is a motion to call the question. Chair tries a show of hands, which works poorly  with this electronics. There is a counted vote. The vote is 10-4-2, which passes. They advance to the motion to reconsider. The vote is 15-0-1.  Martin points out that the vote was to call the question, not to call all questions.  The chair  says they go to a vote anyhow.  Fortunately time had elapsed so they go to a vote. The vote 0-15-1.  The Chair’s ruling is not sustained.  Purchases are not donations. Vote on something is  8-3-4 Vote on reinstating Vinson is 11-0-4.

Motion to amend the policy manual to clarify what is a qualifying contribution. There are a series of minor policy manual amendments. Martin speaks against the motion, because he thinks the motion has improper intents.  Proposal is made that a member must be notified of a lapse in membership dues and given a reasonable chance to cure their lapse. Chadderdon urges simplifications in the amendment. He says that the bylaws have no ambiguity that would permit a policy clarification.   Time is finally reached. Motion to extend time fails on a 6-6 vote.  No votes are Chadderdon, Bracco, Martin.  Vote 13-3-0.  Motion passes.

Motion to nominate people for the Awards Committee. Redpath was nominated. Martin complains about Redpath. Redpath is accused of having received money from Soros groups.  Nekhaila orders Secretary to mute Martin.  Point of order, Chadderdon: Chair ruling is out of order. A vote of the LNC is needed. Decision of Chair is appealed. Vote is 9-4-3.  Nota: Bost, Chadderdon, Martin, Vote 12-3-1 abstention.

Motion on executive session – board will take actions to protect confidentiality of executive sessions. Martin says Brown and Jacobs said the motion was inadvisable. Martin claims resolutions on issues are doing things. Martin says he supports transparency.  Chadderdon asks that people not call the question. McGee: Martin’s assertions are specious at best. While there is concern about how matters are handled, matters are being handled well.  Motion to extend time by 12 minutes: Passes 11-3  Travis: I oppose because of what the parliamentarians said. Bracco: Moves to strike Chair and insert LNC as the party making the ruling. Vote is 11-0-5. Amendment: Proviso that the rule will not apply to past events. Vote is 9-4-3; it passes.

I have had loss of signal. After 2 1/2 hours, starting with a half-hour to determine the agenda, I have had enough.  The remainder of the agenda suggests that nothing that will advance the LP is under consideration.
