Three cheers to Mr. Knebel for getting the LNC financial reports out in a timely way, despite the holiday weekend!
Editor: I will separate our a few important numbers, which are also seen in the full report below:
August 2026’s revenue was $55,072, down from Jul 2026’s revenue of $65,753.
August non-convention expenses totaled $98,559.
The LNC had a Net Income of negative $43,487 in Aug 2026.
Total Cash (net of any Joint Fundraising Committee liabilities) was $397,090, down from $435,257 at 7/31/2026.
[Editor: There is no report of what the asserted Joint Fundraising Committee liabilities are, and they do not appear to be visible in any FEC reports.]
The report reads:
Greetings, Libertarians!
I hope that all of you had a wonderful holiday weekend. Attached please find the Libertarian National Committee, Inc. financial statements, as of August 31, 2026.
Due to the Joint Fundraising Committee (JFC) impacts on the financial statements on Pages 6, 10 & 11, it is best to focus on the balance sheet data in the middle of Page 4.
Unrestricted cash decreased $38,167 from the Jul 31, 2026 balance. Total Cash (net of any Joint Fundraising Committee liabilities) was $397,090, down from $435,257 at 7/31/2026.
On the Aug 2026 month end balance sheet, Accounts Payable, the Credit Cards Liability, and the Accrued Expenses & Liabilities sum to $14,784, down from $16,965 at 7/31/2026.
The Aug 2026 income statement is summarized on Page 5, with greater income statement detail on Pages 7, 8 & 9. Aug 2026’s revenue was $55,072, down from Jul 2026’s revenue of $65,753.
The 2026 budget that was passed by the LNC contained only annual, and not monthly, budgeted numbers. The 2026 total budgeted revenue (minus convention revenue) is $973,765, and January through August’s combined non-convention revenue of $546,483 was 56.1% of that number. At eight months through the year, we should be at 66.7%. The LNC is pacing to achieve 84.2% of total year 2026 budgeted non-convention revenue, and that is down from 86.5% in the Jul 2026 LNC Financial Report. Now that the convention is behind us, the numbers inclusive of convention revenue are as follows: 2026 budgeted revenue was $1,350,509. January through August’s combined revenue of $738,181 was 54.7% of the budget. Including convention revenue, the LNC is pacing to achieve 82.0% of the total 2026 budget.
Aug non-convention expenses totaled $98,559, with Total Year-to-Date expenses of $784,367, which is 69.4% of total annual budgeted expenses (minus convention expenses) of $1,129,754. Now that the convention is behind us, the numbers inclusive of convention expenses are as follows: Aug expenses totaled $98,559, with Year-to-Date expenses of $1,096,304, which is 78.5% of total annual budgeted expenses of $1,395,999.
The LNC had a Net Income of negative $43,487 in Aug 2026. Net Income for the first eight months of 2026 combined was -$358,122. Excluding the losses absorbed by the convention, the YTD net income through Aug was -$237,884.
Our cash days in reserve at August month end is 90. This means that if the LNC entirely stopped collecting donations on 9/1 and continued to spend at the same rate it’s been spending so far this year, the funds would run out in 90 days. This number is down from 95 days at the end of July.
The Related Party Transactions report is once again included in the attached document set, and you should expect to see that data going forward.
FEC reports are expected to be filed on a timely basis by Paula Edwards, the LNC’s FEC consultant, and all other FEC inquiries have been answered on a timely basis. I would like to thank Assistant Treasurer Patrick Mitchell and Operations Director Hannah Kennedy for their assistance during this LNC term in the preparation of the LNC’s FEC filings and financial statements.
