Readers may recall an event in Grand Rapids in which a delegate to the national convention was alleged to have struck another delegate. The delegate alleged to have made the attack was later seen being led off in handcuffs by local peace officers. A trial was scheduled for October 8. By report, a judge was selected, the witnesses were there, and since the defendant had asked for a jury trial potential jurors were present. The defendant did not appear. There is a court document that appears to identify a contempt citation and specify a significant cash bail.
