Our attention has been drawn to the continuing actions of the Federal Election Commission with respect to campaign filings that various Libertarian-Party-connected persons or groups have or have not made. We will have considerably more detail on this in forthcoming articles.
A typical FEC “Request For Additional Information”, this one directed to the Libertarian Unity PAC in the person of its Chair, Ms. Angela McArdle, is attached. The issue is a failure to file a mandatory report. The McArdle in question is also Chair of the national Libertarian Party/The letter went out from the FEC a solid week ago, but there is so far no responder.
I thought I heard about fines and people in “trouble”. Instead these are letters asking for “information”… I’m feeling like there’s a lot of mudslinging here with all of this. Glad Dr. Phillies has this platform to air this all out.
Trouble is the correct word. The FEC has a hard deadline for filings. The filing that they did not receive were due in November. The FEC does fine for being late, and the amounts are not insignificant per day that you are late. They are now late more than a month.
The word information is always used by the FEC. It is somewhat reminiscent of scenes from the prisoner in the 1960s. They want information. Information.
In the previous article, there was mention of a potentially illegal contribution. Is this it, or is that coming up?
