Libertarian Presidential Candidate Fundraising

Fundraising by Libertarian and Other Third-Party Presidential candidates

For each candidate, I list the name, the total amount raised, and the amount raised from individuals other than the candidate. In a few cases, there are additional special cases.

The leaders by total raised are Michael Ter Maat, Lars Mapstead, and Chase Oliver. The leaders raised by total raised from people other than the candidate are Chase Oliver, Jacob Hornberger, and Michael Rechtenwald. Lars Mapstead also put into his campaign $450,000 in loans.

Except for the $450,000 loan, these totals are dwarfed by the totals raised by Cornel West ($779,526.50) and Jill Stein ($330,686.02).

Jim, that is incorrect. Barr had not even filed by this time in 2008.

I couldn’t find a way to easily reference, but I would be surprised if Barnarik had raised over $20,000 by this time in the campaign.

According to year end 2003 FEC filing, he had raised $25,378.00. Raised another $7,987.34 in Q1 2004.

You are correct. I had skipped a line after looking at Jorgensen and was looking at Q2 for everyone else.

      Through the end of Q1:

      Jorgensen: 32,148
      Johnson 16: 278,957
Johnson 12: 169,700 (not counting 2011 because it includes his Republican campaign)
      Barr: 0
      Badnarik: 7,959
Browne 00: 1,191,580 (he basically began raising funds as soon as 96 was over)
Browne 96: 695,797 (he began raising funds in 94)
Marrou: 158,680 (only have data for 92, don’t know when he started)
Paul: 185,443 (only have data for 88, don’t know when he started)
Bergland: 74,178 (only have data for 84, don’t know when he started)
Clark: 234,511 (only have data for 80, don’t know when he started)

    LP NEBRASKA CONVENTION
Was held weekend of March 2, 3 at Bellevue, NE located just outside of Omaha. There were 40 voting delegates present. Matt Lorence, outgoing chair, presided at convention and handed the gavel over to newly elected chair, Rachel Nelson, at the close. Convention went off smoothly and without a hitch. No one was bounced out or even had to be shown the door. Lars Mapstead, candidate for LP nomination for POTUS attended. Several other candidates had tables or sent someone to speak on their behalf to the members. All were welcomed and thanked for their participation.

Angela McArdle, LP Chair, was keynote speaker on Saturday afternoon. Following Saturday’s meeting LPNE arrnged to have comedians, Robbie, the fire, Bernstein and Chris Faga entertain the members and guests. Bernstein and Faga had a gig in Kansas City the previous evening. Sunday was devoted to education and training presented by Jacob Bradley of lP Texas. Attendees were welcome to ask questions or comment during and after the presentation. This created a lively back & forth information exhchange.

LPNE accomplished all business, learned a lot and enjoyed themselves. Convention Concluded; Mission Accomplished.

Same thing happened in 2020. Jorgensen had only raised $32,000 through the end of Q1 2020, got the nomination in Q2 and raised $753,000 that quarter, then raised another $608,000 in July.

But, until the Q2 numbers came out Jorgensen was trailing Hawkins. In fact, even for a week after the Q2 numbers came out she was trailing Hawkins because her initial Q2 filing was in error and only showed $108,000 in revenue.

All of those numbers are well behind every other eventual LP nominee at this point in the cycle except Jorgensen, though.
