Building Toward 2004 — More Massachusetts Issues

Chapter Twenty Seven Building Toward 2004 A Browne Campaign Without Browne In 2000, it cannot have escaped the attention of the cabals surrounding Presidential candidate Browne, National Chair Bergland, and their collaborators that a third Presidential campaign by the same candidate would be even less convincing than the first two campaigns had been. Furthermore, Browne was not that young. Even…

Robert Kraus on the LP in Crisis

[Editor: This post was elevated from being a comment.] That “baseline” [Ed.: the $57,000 income the LNC had in December] used to be JUST the monthly pledge club donations. You could automatically count on $55-60k in recurring revenue plus another $70K in new or renewals. So base line of $130K without doing any other fundraising. All that for a sunk…

The LPMAPAC Destroys LAMA

LAMA Breathes Its Last What I had not anticipated when I left the LPMAPAC Board was that eastern Massachusetts activists would use their joint control of the LAMA and LPMAPAC Boards to destroy LAMA—the long-term LPUS affiliate— under the guise of a merger. The eastern group announced that they were going to merge the two organizations. The presentation of the…

Libertarian Apocalypse Massachusetts LAMA Disaffiliates PVLA

From my book Funding Liberty LAMA used the clever approach to disaffiliation, namely changing the rules so that the PVLA was no longer eligible to be an affiliate.  Quoting from my book Funding Liberty: “At the start of 2000, the Libertarian Association of Massachusetts Board, which was also controlled by the eastern group, changed its by-laws. They added a new…
